Usually I go to Troup for the gannets, but on this trip the insects were equally fascinating.
I've never seen so many burnet moths in one place before!
A lot of the gannets had left, and the chicks that were left were mostly close to fledging.
There was still the odd smaller chick. I wonder when the last ones fledged? As I sprained my ankle right after this visit, I haven't been back to Troup since, so I don't know when the last birds left the cliffs to overwinter out at sea.
